Lanterns - Blowing Plastic

Blowing Plastics - Lanterns
PLASTIC X CRAFTS
ongoing experiment/project
"Can I increase the value of plastics by linking it to a unique and time-intensive production process?"
We don't value plastic because it's a cheap material made to throw away. Everything made out of plastic we value less than the same item in wood, stone...
That's how most of us think about plastic.

But that's wrong, plastic is an amazing material if it's used correctly. It lasts forever so it is kind of stupid to use it for single and short use products.

I want to change that bad image en change the way people use plastics. In this project I will produce unique items with a time consuming crafts like proces. This process and the labour i put in to the items will add more value to the plastic items.

I'll treat plastic like glass blowers treated their glass to make amazing objects and sculptures. A material and aesthetic experiment
Lanterns I made out of old watercontainers. It's cool that the thickness of the material manipulates the light. Made during the summer festival @vaklabbokrijk
